The Himalayan Kingdom of Kathmandu is really two cities - one is the fabled capital of convivial pilgrims and carved rose-brick temples; the other, a smoggy sprawl of urban life and traffic. Home to a record seven world heritage sites and countless tourist spots, this city also acts as a financial and business hub and sacred pilgrim center.
Visit the historic seat of royalty Durbar Square and one of the holiest Hindu shrines in the world at Pashupatinath; stand in the awe inspiring silhouette of one of the world’s most glorious Buddhist Chaityas in Swayambhunath; explore the Hindu temples and Buddhist architecture of the city of fine arts, Patan; and witness the majesty of one of the world’s largest and oldest stupas in the city of devotees, Boudhanath.
