Travel News30 countries set to attend Hue Festival in April 40 international fine art delegations representing 30 countries are scheduled to take part in the opening ceremony of the Hue Festival 2012, which is being held April 7-15, 2012. Now in its seventh year, the festival is designed to highlight the Government's National Tourism Year and to commemorate the 325th anniversary of Phu Xan (aka Hue) being chosen as the regional capital. This year artists from France, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Rumania, Switzerland, Germany, the U.K, the USA, Mexico, Panama, Senegal, South Africa, Australia, China, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, India, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia, Israel, and Vietnam are all scheduled to perform at venues around the city. In addition to the primary festival, smaller "pocket-festivals" will held simultaneously. These include the Children’s Festival, Hue Poetry Festival and a culinary festival. Visitors should expect to encounter community art performances and cultural activities including street fine art shows, exhibitions, traditional kite flying, art installations, street music, workshops, sporting activities, gastronomy and festival themed sightseeing tours.
